The story behind the design:

Akupara appears in the Mahabharata, one of the great Sanskrit epics of Hindu mythology, where he is described as the king of tortoises. In the story of the Churning of the Ocean, Akupara carries the immense Mount Mandara on his back, and is also associated with the great world-bearing tortoise of Hindu cosmological tradition.
